Pastor Ricky James Smith

Pastor Ricky James Smith, 62, of Flynn, Texas finished his race here on Earth on Wednesday, April 18, 2024. A Visitation is set for Monday, April 22 from 5pm to 7pm at Flynn Assembly Church. Funeral Services are set for 11am, Tuesday, April 23, at Flynn Assembly Church.

Born February 2, 1962, in Gatesville, Texas, he was the son of Rev. Jesse James and Betty Joyce (Scott) Smith. Pastor Rick’s passion for ministry began thirty-three years ago and he was the head pastor of the Flynn Assembly of God Church for thirteen years. Outside of preaching, Rick enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and was an avid hunter. Pastor Rick was proud of his Native American heritage and loved learning the history of Native American tribes. Above all, he loved his family deeply and enjoyed making memories with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Rev. Jesse James Smith; three brothers; three sisters; and one daughter.

Pastor Rick leaves behind to cherish his memories, his mother Betty Joyce Smith; loving wife of forty years, Terry Smith; son, Zachery and wife Amanda Smith; daughter, Holly and husband Wes Jones; five brothers, Bill, Sam, Rocky, John, and, Tim; two sisters, JoAnn, and Crissie, and her husband Arlie; as well as, four beautiful grandchildren, Silas, Adah, Mary Entis, and, Hank.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
