Mary Jane (Rees) Magill

January  2, 1942- June 13, 2022

Mary Jane (Rees) Magill died in Bryan, Texas on June 13, 2022, at age 80. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Mary Jane was born in Houston, Texas to Gordon Terrell Rees and Rebecca Elizabeth (Collier) Rees on January 2, 1942. After graduating from Lamar High School in Houston she attended Southwest Texas State College. She married Winston Hudson Magill Jr. on August 4, 1962, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Houston. They had two children, Laura Lea and Winston (Win). She grew up attending Bering United Methodist Church. She was a longtime member of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church until moving to Camp Creek Lake in Robertson County in 1998 and joining Franklin United Methodist Church. She was a proud member of the Alexander Love Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a Girl Scout leader in the San Jacinto Council and was made a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. After moving to Robertson County, she trained as an Emergency Medical Technician and was a member of the First Responders for Robertson County.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband Winston Hudson Magill, Jr., her parents Gordon Terrell Rees and Rebecca Elizabeth (Collier) Rees, her brother Gordon Terrell Rees, Jr., and her niece Angela Michelle Rees Peet.

She is survived by her daughter Laura Lea (Magill) Aldis and husband Jeff and their daughters Abigail and Emily, and her son Winston Hudson Magill III and wife Christina and their son Wesley. She is also survived by her brothers Richard Rees and wife Melinda, and William Rees and wife Deanna, as well as nieces Kimberly Rees Williams, Kara Rees Ford, Kristen Rees Hood, Kelley Rees Madden, and Heather Rees, and nephews Michael Rees and Ryan Rees. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 1:00 p.m. at the Franklin United Methodist Church, 116 West Decherd, Franklin, TX 77856. The service will be preceded at noon by visitation and light refreshments. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the choir at First Methodist Church of Houston that provided her so much enjoyment during her illness.
