Mark Allen Sossaman

August 27, 1965 – October 10, 2021

Mark Allen Sossaman went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 10, 2021. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was the only son of Jeanne and John Sossaman. He spent his youth in South Texas where he grew up playing golf, baseball, basketball, and running cross country. While in school at Tuloso-Midway High School, he met his future wife and the love of his life, Karen Peters. He went on to pursue a business degree from Texas A&M University in College Station. Mark was an avid supporter of the Astros, Cowboys, and of course the Fighting Texas Aggies.

His life revolved around his two blessings, his wife, Karen, and daughter, Lauren. They were forever and always the center of his world. Mark’s contagious love for sports-inspired his daughter Lauren to become a multi-sport athlete. He cherished watching her compete in summer league swimming and high school tennis along with many other sports throughout the years.

Mark’s life was full of amazing friendships and relationships. His friends, customers, and co-workers quickly became extended family due to his generosity, professionalism, and loving heart. His faith in God exemplified Christian values by virtue of honesty, and always extending respect and kindness to others which allowed many to call him a brother. He was a stellar son, father, husband, and friend.

Over the years, Mark’s banking career moved him to the Houston area. He worked for several banks throughout his 37-year profession with the last 14 years being at Citizens Bank where he advanced to CEO of the Houston region.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne and John Sossaman, and his father-in-law Don Peters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Karen, his daughter Lauren, mother-in-law Norma, brother-in-law Kent Peters and his wife Nancy, niece Bryn Peters, nephew Blake Peters, Godson Matthew Montez, and many other beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins along with their families.

Mark will forever be remembered for his charming personality, giving nature, and gentle demeanor. He will be missed greatly by those that knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to The Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/).
