Guadalupe Martinez Reyes
March 18, 1950 – September 21, 2022
Guadalupe “LUPE” Martinez Reyes passed away at her home on September 21, 2022, at the age of 72. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother who always watched over her family. She always gave of herself without ever complaining. She had her faith in God and a strong fighting spirit that kept her going forward through all adversities. Funeral Services are set for 10:30 AM Saturday, October 1 in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home. Rev. Cristobal Ledezma will officiate and burial will follow at Mt.Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday, September 30 with a Vigil Service set for 6 PM also at Trevino-Smith.
Guadalupe was born on March 18, 1950, to Ramon and Augustina Martinez in Fentress, Texas. Her family later moved to Bryan, Texas. She met John Amaya Reyes Sr. whom she would later marry and have four children with.
Guadalupe loved decorating for the holidays. She enjoyed making wreaths and flower arrangements. She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play as well as gardening, coloring and scrapbooking. She enjoyed watching TV shows like the Golden Girls, Little House on the Prairie, The Rifleman and I Love Lucy. Her favorite movies were Christmas, Horror, and anything with Shirley Temple. Visiting her grandchildren brought her true happiness.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Augustina Martinez; her husband, John Amaya Reyes Sr., and son, John Edward Reyes Jr.
She is survived by her two daughters, Yolanda and husband, Ignacio Arevalo, and Roxanne Esparza; her son, Brian, and wife, Monica Reyes. She is a grandmother to Chris, Mercedes, Brianna, Brian Jr., Angel, Julian, and Emily. She is a great-grandmother to Maddalynn, Michael, Jesenia, and Samuel Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Olga Espinoza.
