Thomas Mosley Obituary

It is with deep sadness that our family wishes to announce the death of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, “Tom,” on April 18, 2024. He passed away peacefully at his home, with family at his bedside.

Tom was born on March 24, 1929 (he just celebrated his 95th birthday) to Spence and Ruth Mosley in Waco, Texas. He joined his two siblings, Bill and Katherine. They grew up surrounded by many family members who shared many great adventures together. After his father left, he was raised by his mom, grandmother, and Aunt Pat.

He was active in many activities as a youth, and while in high school, Tom had a paper route, worked in a bakery, and in a framing shop where he learned how to make frames, which he continued until a few years before his death.

Tom graduated from Waco High School in 1947 and joined the National Guard of Texas, where he served with the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division. He later joined the US Navy in 1950, working as an Electronics Technician until his retirement in March 1972. One of his more memorable assignments was as an instructor at the school, training younger students to follow in his footsteps as Electronics Technicians.

Dad met and married our mother, Juanita Pritt, in September of 1955, while stationed in San Diego, CA. They eventually welcomed two children, Donna (Mosley) Fos and Norman Mosley.

As a family, some of our happiest memories include being stationed in Alaska, where we had snowball fights, went sledding on the hill across the street–behind an old hospital–and spent time together outdoors, usually fishing.

Our dad was preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as his brother, William Mosley, his son, Norman Mosley, and our mother, Juanita Pritt Mosley.

He is survived by his sister, Katherine Lewallen, his cousin Bob (Julia) Walsh, his daughter Donna (George) Fos, as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Our family wishes to thank the doctors and medical personnel who have taken care of Tom over the years, especially Hospice of Brazos Valley for their care, concern, and support in his final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that friends consider making a donation instead to: Hospice of Brazos Valley or Mobility Worldwide of Brazos Valley (2113 S. College Avenue, Bryan, Tx 77902).

Arrangements for a private service and interment ceremony will follow.
