Sylveria DeLeon Obituary

Sylveria Gonzales DeLeon, born on June 20th, 1936, in Wilcox, Texas, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. A Visitation is set for Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11am to 12pm; with a funeral service to follow from 12pm to 1pm, all at Aldersgate Church:  2201 Earl Rudder Fwy S, College Station, TX 77845

She was the firstborn to Sotera Oliva and Jose Guadalupe Gonzales and grew up in Somerville, Texas. Sylveria excelled both academically and athletically, gaining recognition for her basketball skills, particularly as a fierce guard. Her dedication continued as she raised her six children: Joe, Mary, Chris, Rachel, Bully, and Oscar.Throughout her life, Sylveria held various jobs, showcasing her strong work ethic. From cotton picking to working for Sealy Mattress and for Burleson County advocating for senior citizens, she found joy in caring for seniors as a home health caregiver in her later years.Sylveria's home in Somerville was a hub of love and warmth, hosting numerous family gatherings. A devout Christian, she gave her life to Jesus Christ in 1976 while watching Billy Graham on television, impacting her entire family with her unshakable faith and devotion to teaching the Bible.

Known for her generosity, Sylveria opened her home to family and friends in need, never asking for anything in return. In her later years, she found comfort and care at The Langford at College Station, where she made new friends and enjoyed attending the various activities. The family extends gratitude to The Langford for her exceptional care.Sylveria's life was marked by love for her family, friends, and God. Her unwavering faith and selfless spirit touched the lives of many. Sylveria's legacy lives on through the memories of those who knew and loved her.

Sylveria is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Tito, Freddy, Benny, Joe, and son-in-law, Rolando Villanueva Sr.

She is survived by her loving family: son Joe Deleon Jr. and wife Kathy, daughter Mary Holleman and husband Dave, son Chris DeLeon and wife Mary Jane, daughter Rachel Villanueva, son Raul DeLeon and wife Grace, son Oscar DeLeon and Linda Garcia. As well as her 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and two great great- grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings: six sisters, two brothers, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers are Alex DeLeon, Cody DeLeon, Travis DeLeon, Ryan Holleman, Raymond Villanueva, Roland Villenueva, and Roy Villanueva.
